A recent CargoMaster customer experience highlights the importance of carefully choosing the right freight forwarder to Africa or any other destination you may be thinking of shipping to.
Prior to contacting CargoMaster, our customer called a fast talking competitor (that was advertising on Google search), falsely claiming to be an expert with many years experience. Our customer made a mistake and decided to use the forwarder to ship their container to Africa.
The container was lodged at the wharf in Australia by the freight forwarder, for sea freight export to Africa.
Australian Customs impounded the container at the Australian wharf, due to incorrect and or false documentation, the freight forwarder claimed he was not responsible for the customers incorrect documentation (even though he prepared and presented the documentation to Australian Customs), “The Forwarder had very little experience and the customer was forced to pay out many thousands of dollars in fines, detention and impoundment fees !”
Moral Of The Story, Don’t be deceived and get caught out ,be on the look out, it’s very easy to profess many years experience and load a webpage with lots and lots ,even hundreds of shipping destinations and then advertise on Google search!
You see what we mean, don’t get caught out , when choosing a freight forwarder you need to ask questions and more questions, ask yourself, do they really have experience? how long have they been around? read their “about us” do they provide any history about themselves? do they have liability insurance? (if not, ask yourself ,why not? should you trust them with shipping your goods? find out more about the freight forwarder BEFORE you commit yourself and hand over your precious cargo.
