Moscow | Air & Sea Freight
CargoMaster is dedicated to providing international freight solutions that are safe, compliant, and fully aligned with Australian regulations. For this reason, we are unable to offer direct freight forwarding, logistics services, or transport arrangements to Moscow, Russia at this time. This limitation is not due to a lack of operational capability, CargoMaster has decades of experience handling complex international cargo movements but is instead driven by strict legal obligations imposed by the Australian Government. These rules carry significant consequences for exporters, and our decision ensures all clients remain fully protected from potential compliance risks.
Since 2022, Australia has enacted one of its most extensive sanction frameworks in modern history, specifically targeting commercial engagement with Moscow, Russia following the conflict in Ukraine. These sanctions remain firmly in place through late 2025 and regulate what can be shipped, who goods can be supplied to, and whether certain trade activities are permitted at all. Because the restrictions cover many core commercial sectors, the majority of items typically sent through freight forwarders cannot legally be exported to Moscow, Russia. As a result, CargoMaster cannot facilitate shipments that fall within these prohibited, high-risk, or unclear regulatory categories.
The sanctions also include a complete ban on the direct importation of a wide range of goods originating from Moscow, Russia. These include petroleum products, refined fuels, gas, coal, military-related equipment, gold, and numerous restricted commodities. Beyond outright bans, Australia also applies a punitive tariff of 35 percent on the few remaining product categories that could still technically be imported. This tariff, extended into October 2025, has rendered Russian-origin imports economically uncompetitive for Australian businesses. These combined restrictions prevent CargoMaster from receiving, transporting, or arranging customs clearance for cargo sourced directly from Moscow, Russia.
Outbound shipments face equally strict controls. Australia prohibits the export of machinery, industrial components, electronic equipment, drone parts, alumina, aluminum ores, and a substantial list of specialised goods destined for markets in Moscow, Russia. These items traditionally formed a major portion of commercial trade between both countries, meaning most export freight consignments are now legally restricted. CargoMaster’s approach to compliance is absolute, so we cannot accept bookings for any cargo bound for Moscow, Russia if it appears on, or relates closely to, Australia’s controlled-export lists.
Because of these import and export bans, trade flows between Australia and Moscow, Russia have fallen to near zero. By mid-2025, official data showed almost no recorded bilateral trade, marking a sharp departure from pre-2022 trading conditions when freight movements were far more frequent. Although limited exceptions exist, such as some petroleum products routed through third countries, these do not reflect broader, practical trade policy. For all meaningful commercial purposes, direct freight channels between Australia and Moscow, Russia have effectively closed.
Another key reason behind CargoMaster’s stance is the heightened risk associated with indirect supply-chain breaches. Under Australian sanctions laws, a company may still violate regulations if its goods ultimately reach a sanctioned individual, sector, or organisation in Moscow, Russia, even if the shipment transited another country first. With the growing complexity of global logistics networks and increased government enforcement, indirect exposure represents a serious legal hazard. CargoMaster prioritizes transparency, protection, and full compliance, which is why we cannot facilitate any shipment with a possible link to Moscow, Russia.
By choosing not to handle freight services to Moscow, Russia during this sanction period, CargoMaster shields Australian businesses from potential financial penalties, criminal liability, and reputational damage. Our responsibility is to ensure every shipment we manage meets Australia’s highest regulatory standards while still providing the professionalism and reliability our clients depend on. We continually monitor government updates regarding sanctions and trade policy toward Moscow, Russia, and if conditions change in the future, we will reassess service availability.
For now, our focus remains on supporting Australian clients with safe, lawful, and dependable freight services to destinations where trade is fully permitted. CargoMaster’s commitment to compliance ensures your cargo, and your business, remain protected every step of the way.
