DESCRIBE A FLAT RACK CONTAINER?
Flat Racks are specialised shipping equipment. The flat rack only has ends it does not have walls or a ceiling making it easier to load and perfect for over width and or over height commodities. For example, flat racks are great for large machinery, boats anything over width or height that is considered “out of gauge cargo is usually transported on flat racks.
WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT OF FLAT RACKS
Normally you will find flat racks have the same dimensions as 20ft and 40ft containers. Flat racks are provided for shipping as 20ft and 40ft units, they are able to handle heavier loads than standard shipping containers. Anything transported by sea on a flat rack will need to be lashed and were required blocking and bracing, this service is offered by CargoMaster. CargoMaster will organize lashing/securing your goods on flat racks to certified shipping standards.

Types of flat rack containers
See below the two most common flat racks available for international shipping: Collapsible and Non-collapsible.
Collapsible flat rack
Collapsible flat racks have walls that can be detached or folded. The benefit of these units is that they are easy to transport, stack and store because they don’t have much height.
The thing is with these flat racks is that they lack the structural strength of a non-collapsible flat rack.
NON -collapsible flat rack
Non-Collapsible flat racks are structurally stronger and as such can handle heavier loads than a collapsible unit. Obviously, a disadvantage with the non-collapsible unit is that they take up a lot more space when storing or transporting.
